Ever wanted to play the cello or violin but felt it was too hard? Viola the Bird is an online experiment that turns your device into a virtual string instrument and makes music-making fun.

Developed by David Li with Google Arts & Culture, this interactive experience introduces you to Viola—a lovely purple bird with big dreams of being a music star. With simple mouse movements or touchscreen gestures, you can guide Viola in playing melodies, no matter what your musical background.

Viola the Bird offers two engaging modes:

Concert Mode: Play along with famous classical pieces by Beethoven and Vivaldi and get lost in the music.
Freestyle Mode: Create your own melodies, experiment with sounds, and make your own music.

Play Viola with taps. Each key press makes a different sound and beat. As you go along, you can compose full melodies.
